side of the pressure pump. The temperature arc has a numerical range from -5-15 (x10) and
indicates the temperature of the engine oil as it leaves the filter.
Fuel Consumed Totalizing Indicator
The fuel consumed totalizer indicator is located above the engine instruments. It combines fuel
flow information from the left and right fuel flow transmitters to produce a display of the
volume of fuel passing the transmitters. It does not indicate the actual amount of fuel consumed
by the engines.
314. ENGINE OPERATING LIMITATIONS
Refer to Instrument Markings and Engine Limitations, Section V, T.O. 1T-1A-1, for specific
engine limits.
315. ENGINE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM
Engine fire protections include fire and overheat detection systems and a fire extinguishing
system. Detection includes a self-test function. The crew controls the extinguishing.
Engine Fire Detection System
A semi-conductor, coaxial cable sensor element that forms a closed loop around all vital engine
components, provides detection. Should a fire or overheat condition occur, the rise in
temperature is detected by the sensor element, which illuminates the respective left or right fire
warning light and activates an audible fire warning.
Fire Detection System Test
The fire detection system is tested using the master test rotary switch located on the overhead
panel. Selection of either the right or the left engine position completes an electrical signal
through the respective fire detector control box simulating an engine fire condition. The
simulated fire condition causes the red fire detection switchlight for the selected engine to
illuminate and a fire warning tone to sound. Once the system is validated, the blue GO light
adjacent to the rotary switch will illuminate. If a fault exists in the detector control or the sensor
element is open or shorted, the red NO GO light adjacent to the rotary switch will illuminate.
Fire Warning Annunciator and Alarm
Two red fire warning switchlights, placarded LH ENG FIRE PUSH and RH ENG FIRE PUSH,
are located on the center shroud panel. These switchlights illuminate when an engine overheat or
engine fire condition is detected and are accompanied by a fire warning tone.
