NAVIGATION RADIOS
1200. INTRODUCTION
This chapter discusses the navigation radios installed on the aircraft. The information is
designed to provide you with an understanding of these systems to aid in understanding
operating procedures and limitations. The nav radios provide landing aids,
independent/dependent positioning information, and flight management for the aircraft. The nav
radios consists of:
1.
Two nav receivers
2.
A Global Positioning System (GPS) long-range nav system
3.
A Distance Measuring Equipment (DME) system
4.
An ADF system
5.
A TACAN system
6.
An Air Traffic Control (ATC) transponder system
7.
A Traffic Alert/TCAS
8.
A radio altimeter system

Recall the basic description, related systems, and operation of the nav radios.
