CHAPTER SIX
ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEMS
600. INTRODUCTION
This chapter discusses the electrical power system installed on the aircraft. The information is
designed to provide you with an understanding of these systems to aid in understanding
operating procedures and limitations. The aircraft incorporates three electrical power systems:
1.
Primary Direct Current (DC)
2.
Alternating Current (AC)
3.
DC standby current
An external power receptacle allows connection of a DC ground power unit to the DC system
during ground operations to conserve battery power.
601. ENABLING OBJECTIVE
Recall the basic description, related components, and functions of the electrical power systems.
602. ENABLING STEPS
1.
State the purpose of the DC power system.
2.
List the components of the DC power system.
3.
Discuss the use of the DC standby power system.
4.
State minimum battery and Ground Power Unit (GPU) voltage required for engine start.
5.
State generator duty limitations.
6.
List the components of the AC power system.
603. DC POWER SYSTEMS
The DC power system is the primary source of power for most aircraft systems. It is also the
power source for the inverters used in the AC power system.
DC Power Components
1.
Left and right starter-generators, GCUs, and controls
2.
A battery, relay, battery feeder protection unit, and controls
