| CHAPTER ONE
SNFO/SWSO VOICE COMMUNICATIONS
Possible Responses:
If the aircrew decides to descend immediately:
SNFO/SWSO:
"KATT 810, leaving FL190 for 16,000."
Or, if the aircrew decide to maintain their current altitude and descend at a later time:
SNFO/SWSO:
"KATT 810, pilot's discretion to 16,000."
If the aircrew opts to delay the descent, they may descend at a later time without needing
clearance from the controllers, but they MUST give the controller a call telling that they are
descending:
SNFO/SWSO:
"KATT 810, leaving 19,000 for 16,000."
CONTROLLER:
"KATT 810, roger."
51. READ BACK - Repeat the message back to me.
Example
CONTROLLER:
"BUCK 713, you are cleared present position
direct ROMEK, read back."
SNFO/SWSO:
"BUCK 713 cleared present position direct
ROMEK."
52. REPORT - Used to instruct pilots to advise ATC of specified information.
Example
CONTROLLER:
"BUCK 714, report passing 14,000."
53. REQUEST - To ask for.
Example
SNFO/SWSO:
"APPROACH, BUCK 714, 9000, information
alpha, request."
