REVERSE SENSING
We have just covered the normal use of the IND-350. Now we will discuss a possible misuse
of the course deviation indicator (CDI) portion of this instrument.
The CDI will be centered whenever the aircraft is on the radial selected by the OBS, or on
the reciprocal of that radial. Keeping the above in mind, examine Figure 40 a and b, noting the
absence of a TO-FROM indication. Can you determine the position of the aircaft?

The answer, of course, is no! In both Figures 40a and 40b the aircraft could be either north
or south of the station.
