T-34C OUT-OF-CONTROL FLIGHT
Y
Yaw Angle: Relates the displacement of the airplane centerline from some reference azimuth.
This term is normally used in wind tunnel tests and is presented here only to eliminate or
minimize the tendency to confuse it with angle of sideslip or yaw rate. Yaw angle is depicted in
Figure A-6.
Figure A-6 Yaw Angle
Yaw Rate: Rate of change of yaw angle or how fast the nose of the airplane is moving across
the horizon is measured in degrees per second (deg/sec).
