HIGH SPEED RATE INDEX

This index will be used for problems that involve short amounts of time (typically seconds).

Note that this mark is found where the 36 is on the inner wheel (because 3600 sec equals

1 hour). It is used for any problem where the unit of time being considered is 1 to 2 minutes

or less. (Figure 4.3-8)

UNIT INDEX

This index is used for all mathematical functions (e.g. ratios) that do not involve time. It is

found at the Ten position on both wheels. (Figure 4.3-9)
