your nose down or nose up attitude when
making a position error correction during
combat spread or during turns
b.
Leave the velocity vector caged
(1) The velocity vector is defaulted to the
caged position in the air-to-air mode
Sg 1, fr 14
(2) The velocity vector's cage/uncage state is
Velocity Vector Cage /
controlled with the "MUTE" button on the
Uncage Selection
stick grip. Each actuation of the "MUTE"
button toggles between the caged and
uncaged condition. The selected state of
the velocity vector is displayed on the head
down HUD page.
INSTUCTOR NOTES
Emphasize throughout TacForm instruction that the amount of
any correction depends on the amount of the positional error.
Small errors require minor maneuvering to finesse the aircraft
into proper combat spread. Gross errors require more aggres-
sive flying. Emphasize lack of visual cues for maintaining lateral
position and the necessity for developing a good inside/outside
scan for heading.
