(4) Channel display window: displays
selected TACAN channel
(5) Volume control knob (VOL): when
rotated, adjusts volume of TACAN
station identification signals
(6) TEST button: initiates system
built-in test (BIT) if the following
conditions exist:
(a) TACAN position selected on
CDI switch
(b) 180 set in HSI course window
(c) Press and hold the test button
for minimum of 5 seconds
The following should occur:
(d) NAV flag should not be visible
(e) The No. 2 pointer will indicate
180 +/- 2.5 degrees
(f)
Range will read 0 +/- 1 NM
(g) The CDI bar will be centered
(h) The TO/FROM indicator will
show a TO indication
NOTE: The indications of a
valid TACAN BIT test are:
NAV flag not visible; No. 2
pointer 180 +/- 2.5 degrees;
range reads 0 +/- 1 NM; CDI
centered; TO/FROM indicator
indicating TO.
