Upon recovery from each run, place the Master Armament switch in SAFE. For succeeding
runs, operate only the Master Armament switch. After the last run, set the Master Armament
switch to SAFE. Check for SAFE on the STORES page; deselect GUN; select NAV to

THE ATTACK CONE
The concept of the attack cone (Figure 20) is taught to emphasize the idea that, although you will be
using a fixed run-in line, an effective run-in can actually be made from any direction. For a given
target and dive angle, the pattern of all possible flight paths form a cone above the target. In
combat, you would maneuver so as to intercept this cone from the most advantageous direction for
your run-in. With the target coordinates entered as an active waypoint, the attack cone diameter can
be accurately determined. This can greatly assist you in flying a constant pattern.
