BASIC ENGINE CONSTRUCTION
1. The T-34C aircraft is powered by a PT6A-25 turboprop
engine, built by Pratt and Whitney. It is a reverse-flow type
with inverted flight capabilities. This engine is rated at a
maximum of 550 shaft horsepower SHP; however, normal NATOPS
operation is limited to 425 SHP (1015 ft-lb torque).
2. The primary purpose of the engine is to provide the
motive force to turn the propeller through the reduction
gearbox. The secondary purpose is to supply power to drive the
