Syllabus Notes
a.
Fly routes using 1:50,000 or 1:24,000 maps.
b. Plan routes using 90 knots groundspeed and fly using
70-100 KIAS.
c. IUT shall use Orange route for N4001 and Purple route
for N4002. Routes will be flown in both directions.
d. Fly N4001 no lower than 500 feet AGL.

Special Syllabus Requirements
N4001
SI shall demonstrate low-level navigation for an entire
route. The IUT will navigate the entire route after the
demonstration.

timing; use of GPS; control points; checkpoints; hazards;
low-level navigation areas; low-level navigation maps; map

during navigation; tactical landing area (TLA) selection
criteria; TLA brief (including location, identification,
size, obstacles, and elevation); wind evaluation for TLA
landings; waveoffs; and common student errors on low-level
navigation.
