Upon completion of this unit of instruction, the student will
demonstrate the ability to perform American Red Cross Standard
First Aid skills, to act as the first link in the emergency
medical service (EMS) system, demonstrate the ability to respond
calmly in emergencies, to take appropriate steps to keep a victim
alive, and to prevent injuries from worsening or deteriorating
until EMS arrives.
