CARRIER QUALIFICATION - PHASE II
OBJECTIVE: Prepare the student for carrier based operations in
swept wing aircraft with emphasis on pattern, interval, power
control, attitude control, airspeed control, glideslope control,
corrections and carrier sense. Performance events/flights are
designed to perfect student skills in preparation for a field
qualification and a qualification flight at the ship.
Includes: Carrier Qualification Flight Procedures (CQFP-04
through CQFP-06X), a Night Formation flight (NFORM-05), a Night
Familiarization flight (NFAM-06), CQ simulators (CQ-01S and
CQ-02S), Emergency Procedures simulator (EP-12S), and CQ flights
(CQ-03 through CQ-14X). CQFP-05 is the Ship's Brief.
NOTE 1:
A maximum of three (3) CQ flights may be scheduled in
one day.
NOTE 2:
A day or night front seat landing within the previous
three calendar days is a prerequisite for a night CQ
solo flight.
NOTE 3:
All CQ night flights shall take off no earlier than 30
minutes after official sunset.
NOTE 4:
Night solo flights require an operating radar altimeter.
NOTE 5:
Prior to completion of the Strike Flight syllabus, the
student must fly a total of three night FCLPs under LSO
control.
NOTE 6:
LSO talkdown passes may be flown anytime after CQ-04 but
prior to CQ-13X.
NOTE 7:
CQ-14X will weigh 50% of the student's total CQ grade.
CQ-13X is a non-graded flight and only "Headwork" and
"Procedures" will be graded.
NOTE 8:
Fourteen (14) graded passes are required, of which ten
will be traps to complete CQ-14X.
NOTE 9:
Jacket review required prior to check flights.
