MODULE 02
FAMILIARIZATION AND INSTRUMENTS
OBJECTIVES:
1. Familiarization Stage. Familiarize the student with normal
and emergency procedures in the aircraft with emphasis on system
operations, flight characteristics, and landing techniques.
Includes: Cockpit Orientation lessons (CO-04 and CO-05),
Emergency Flight Procedures (EMFP-01 through EMFP-08X), EP
simulators (EP-01S through EP-06SX), Course Rules lessons (CR-02
and CR-03X), Familiarization Flight Procedures (FAMFP-01 through
FAMFP-03X), Familiarization simulators and flights (FAM-01S
through FAM-18), Out-of-Control Flight Procedures (OCFFP-01 and
OCFFP-02X), OCF simulator (OCF-01S), and NATOPS review and
examinations (NATOPS-01 through NATOPS-03X).
NOTE 1:
CO-04 and CO-05 should be scheduled after EP-03S and
prior to FAM-01S.
NOTE 2:
Open-book and closed-book NATOPS examinations shall be
completed prior to FAM-17X. NATOPS instructions and
examinations are administered by the squadron and are
paper/pencil examinations.
NOTE 3:
Student must have flown 1 Straight-in, 1 Abeam, and 1
Overhead PA prior to completion of FAM-12.
NOTE 4:
Practice PAs will be flown to a full stop only when
dual.
NOTE 5:
FAM-15 may be flown any time after FAM-12, but prior to
FAM-16.
NOTE 6:
Must have flown 2 Straight-in PAs, 3 Overheads PAs, 4
Abeam PAs, and 5 breaks prior to completion of FAM-16.
NOTE 7:
Flights do not need to be incomplete for PAs provided
students meet requirements of Notes 3 and 6.
NOTE 8:
Students should have a minimum of 54 FCLP type landings
at completion of FAM-16. If this total is not met a
FAM-15 warm-up should be awarded prior to FAM-17X.
NOTE 9:
FAM-17X shall be flown with visual reference to the
ground.
