CHAPTER TEN
STUDENT GUIDE FOR T-1A AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS
Attitude Heading Computer
Two AHCs, mounted in the avionics rack, provide pitch, roll, and stabilized magnetic heading
data to:
1.
DPU number one and two
2.
MFD
3.
FCS
4.
GPWS and TCAS (number one AHC only)
5.
Flight Data Recorder (FDR) via the Data Acquisition Unit (DAU)
Flux Detector Unit
Two FDUs, one located in each wingtip, are two-axis sensors that sense the horizontal
component of the earth's magnetic field. The FDUs provide flux sense outputs to the AHCs.
The outputs are used to compute the aircraft magnetic heading angle.
AHRS Standby Battery
The AHRS standby battery, located in the avionics rack, provides power in the event of primary
power loss. The battery provides approximately 11 minutes of operating power to AHC number
one and two.
1010. FLIGHT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The FMS consists of:
1.
A CDU located on the pedestal
2.
A flight management computer
3.
A Database Unit (DBU) located on the avionics rack
CDU
The CDU provides a means of entering radio frequencies and transponder codes as secondary to
the RTU. The CDU is a high resolution seven color LCD containing:
1.
A display
2.
Keys
10-10
