304. RADIO COMMUNICATIONS
Students in the advanced training curricula generally need additional radio communication
experience more than they need additional instruction in radio communications. However, it is
necessary to establish a few specific radio communications procedures and to emphasize some
others.
Radio Equipment Usage: The student will manage all available communications equipment.
READBACK OF INITIAL ATC CLEARANCES
VT-86 students in 2F101 simulators and T-2C aircraft shall read back all initial ATC clearances
in their entirety, including all clearances for NPA STEREO Routes and DD 175 - filed flight
plans.
The following excerpt from FAA Order 7110.65, Air Traffic Control, paragraph 4-2-1
Clearance Items, contains instructions to controllers for issuing initial clearances, and is
provided to assist in anticipating the sequence of clearance items:
Issue the following clearance items, as appropriate, in the order listed below:
1.
Aircraft identification.
2.
Clearance limit.
3.
Instrument departure procedure (DP).
