JOINT ADVANCED MULTI-ENGINE T-44A
8.
"OFF" (P)
P ensures prop sync switch is OFF.
9.
AUTOFEATHER
"ARMED" (P)
P selects autofeather ARMED.
10. ANTI-ICE/DE-ICE
"CHECKED" or "PITOT HEAT
CHECKED" (P, CP)
Full anti-ice/de-ice checks are practiced during CPTs (critical path technique) and must be
memorized. A minimum of one full anti-ice/de-ice check is required prior to FAM 8. If flight into
icing conditions is anticipated and on the first leg of cross-country flights, the full anti-ice/de-ice
checks are completed. Check pitot heat on every flight. Monitor load meter to ensure each system is
operational and minimum N1 is maintained for the load condition. Conduct anti-ice/de-ice checks
IAW NATOPS chapter 19. If pitot heat is the only item checked, P and CP respond "Pitot heat
checked."
NOTE: Pitot Heat checks may be performed following start of the first engine (after control and flap checks), if
additional time is required to recharge the battery.
11. AOA
"CHECKED" (P, CP)
P selects APPROACH and checks for an amber doughnut/17 units. CP checks for an amber
doughnut. P selects STALL and checks for a green chevron/29-31 units, stall warning light and
horn. CP checks for a green chevron.
A typical response would be: (P) "Amber doughnut, 17 units" (CP) "Amber doughnut" (P) "Green
chevron, 31 units" (CP) "Green chevron."
NOTE: AOA checks may be performed following start of the first engine (after control and flap check), if
additional time is required to recharge the battery.
12. RADAR
"CHECKED, OFF" "CHECKED,
STANDBY" or "NOT CHECKED,
OFF" (P)
No radar check is required unless convective activity is forecast for the route of flight. The check
does not have to be committed to memory and may be kept for reference in the Blue Brains. A
minimum of one full radar check is required prior to FAM 8.
If required, P performs the following checks:
a.
