MOTIVATION

As you know, air-to-air combat is the most demanding and

potentially deadly environment. In order to effectively employ your

aircraft and gain a weapons firing solution, you must monitor

critical flight data while keeping sight of the bogey and

maneuvering your aircraft to the limits of its flight envelope.

In order to bring your weapons to bear more effectively, the HUD

allows you to keep your head out of the cockpit while monitoring

your flight parameters and critical flight data. Knowing how to

effectively employ the HUD is fundamental for target tracking in

the air-to-air arena.

OVERVIEW

This CAI lesson introduces you to air-to-air use of the HUD. After

this lesson, you will know how to set up the armament control

panel, air-to-air stores display on the multi-function display and

the HUD for air-to-air tracking/gunnery exercises.
