Basis For Measurement
Simulator Resource Demand
Measurement Definition: The number of simulators required by a
TRAWING to accomplish the OPNAV assigned pilot and NFO training rates.
Calculation: Simulator demand (average daily) = simulator hours for
the number of students to be trained divided by average annual days of
simulator use divided by average simulator length divided by Simulator
periods per day multiplied by planning factor for simulators required
Number of Students = Student demand as delineated in the CNATRA
Simulator hours = Simulator flight hours as determined utilizing CNO
approve Peacetime Planning Factors.
Average annual day of simulator use = Average days as determined by
CNO approved Peacetime Planning Factors.
Average simulator length = Average sortie length as determined by
appropriate syllabus data.
Simulator periods per day = Number of simulator periods per day as
determined by CNATRA Resource Planning System data
Planning Factor = Percentage of Simulators are required on a daily
